How trout successfully climb the falls - Photo 54

A perfect landing seen from the side. The body enters the fall stream evenly down the whole length. Note how the tail droops a little so as to get into the water sooner. Compare the line of the trout's back to the curve of the waterfall stream and you'll see they are nearly parallel. The nose is only inches from the blue water zone. A fraction of a second after this high speed image was shot, the trout disappeared into the stream and swam successfully to blue waters. The image is dark, and the water looks frozen due to the extremely fast shutter speed needed to "freeze frame" this image.
