Within 10 to 20 minutes of Ashley's you'll find over 20 restaurants from American, Chinese, Mexican, to fast food franchises.  Mountain Home has several retail shops, craft shops, antique stores, and the state's largest Wal-Mart. Within 15 to 20 minutes away are two 18 hole golf courses, movie theaters, video rentals, churches, banks, and medical services.

Area Attractions
Within 30 minutes to an hour's drive you can visit several Ozark attractions. Fishermen will enjoy a trip to the Norfork National Trout Hatchery where you'll see trout raised from the egg to 12 pound rainbows. Blanchard Springs Caverns near Mountain View, Arkansas is a unique and large cavern system with several tours per day. Also at Blanchard Springs is a beautiful Ozark Mountain park with a stream and lake created by the spring overflow. While you are in the Mountain View area stop by the Ozark Folk Center where you can see over 20 different authentic Ozark pioneer crafts and arts made by hand while you watch. The Ozark Folk Center also has excellent live Blue Grass Music shows several times per day.

The town of Mountain View has some excellent craft and art shopping as well as several restaurants and two live comedy and music shows. The driving routes to and from the Mountain View area are scenic drives with exposures to gorgeous Ozark landscapes.

For those who wish to make a day trip, drive to the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield Missouri which is about 2 hours away. A block away from Bass Pro Shop is the Wonders of Wildlife, a truly fascinating live wildlife museum with an impressive line up of live sea and land animals. On the way to Bass Pro Shop you'll pass Battlefield Mall which has over 100 retail outlets. Springfield has some 700 restaurants, so you can make a full day of attractions, shopping, and dining. The drive to Springfield is scenic and easy.

For those who enjoy live Country Music shows, Branson Missouri is about 2 hours from Ashley's. In addition to the live music shows, Branson also has several large shopping malls and many restaurants. Like the drive to Springfield, the drive to Branson is a scenic run.

Private Fishing Access
This is Ashley's private fishing access as seen from the deck on the house. You can fish from the bank, or wade the river in low water. Many large brown trout have been caught right here. A public boat launch is 5 minutes away by auto and by river.

Fishing Access
You have a wide range of fishing access options at Ashley's. You can fish from the bank, wade fish during lower generation periods, bring your own boat and choose from two excellent close-by public launch sites, or rent a boat from your choice of several local trout docks. If you are fishing with a guide they can pick you up right on our river bank. Wildcat Shoals launch area is approximately 1.5 miles from the vacation home (Waterside Road near the fire house). The public river launch at Cotter, Arkansas is 10 minutes away. If you prefer to wade fish, there are nearly two miles of walkable access 5 minutes away. This stretch of river goes from White Hole to Bruce Creek. If you prefer to fish with a guide there are several excellent services within 10 to 15 minutes away.
